Matthew Michel is a founding partner of First Reliable Insurance and brings a wealth of insurance knowledge and experience to serve our clients. He has been a licensed agent in Mississippi and Tennessee since 1992 when he started his full-time insurance career with Shelter Insurance at his Memphis agency. With Shelter, Matthew consistently led the Tennessee agency force in production attending numerous sales incentive trips recognizing the top producers nationally and was recognized in 1997 as the #2 life insurance producer for the entire 14-state operation. In 2002, he contracted with Farmers Insurance where he was awarded “Agent of the Year” for the state of Tennessee in his first full year. He represented Farmers until going completely independent with his Memphis operation in 2009. Matthew graduated from Delta State University in 1992 receiving a Bachelor of Business Administration degree majoring in Insurance and Real Estate. He received his Life Underwriters Training Council Fellow designation in 1995 after professional studies of providing insurance solutions for various client needs. Matthew is married to the former Missy Cain since 1996 and they have two sons, Luke (Madisyn) and Logan and grandson, Leland. They reside in Nesbit, Mississippi. Matthew enjoys playing golf, coaching youth football, and watching his two favorite teams, the Oklahoma Sooners and St. Louis Cardinals. Brooke McCarthy joined First Reliable Insurance Agency in 2015. Brooke is licensed in Tennessee and Mississippi for all property, casualty and life insurance products. Luke Michel has been a licensed property and casualty agent in Mississippi and Tennessee since 2024. He is the son of founder and head agent of First Reliable Insurance Matthew Michel. He graduated in 2015 from DeSoto Central high school in Southaven, MS. There he received 2 Offensive Lineman awards during his 3 seasons of football. He then earned his associate's degree from Northwest Mississippi Community College of Southaven, MS. Prior to insurance, Luke worked at the Nike Outlet located in Tanger for 6 years where he received the top salesman award multiple times. Luke has been married to Madisyn (Perry) since 2025 and they have one son together, Leland. When Luke is not busy handling insurance policies, he enjoys playing golf, hanging out with friends and cheering on his many fantasy football teams but most importantly the Oklahoma Sooners.
